Welcome to the Block & Bridle Club!

National Block & Bridle Club members are college students from all over the country who are interested in farm animals. Local Block & Bridle Clubs are affiliated with the national organization and the clubs get together once per year at the national convention. There are currently 89 active Block & Bridle Clubs.

Cornell’s Club Activities Include:

Day Trip to Farms in the Region: Past years have included: a tour of the Cornell swine farm, an organic dairy farm, a buffalo farm, 2 alpaca farms, a goat dairy, etc.  Some weekends in the fall are spent halter breaking the beef heifers for the spring livestock show at Cornell’s Teaching & Research Center in Dryden.

Sending Members to National Conventions:  Past years have been hosted in Kentucky , Washington D.C. , and Texas .  Any member who actively participates in the club may be eligible to attend.

 

Host speakers on variety of topics:  as available per request by our members.

Big Event for Spring: 4-H Barnyard Fun Day & the Student Livestock Show.  The ’08 show was the 94th annual Cornell Student Livestock Show.  4-H Day is a day of Ag Education hosted for community youth, followed by the Student Livestock Show where Cornell students from all majors get to try their hand at showing beef & dairy heifers, horses, pigs, sheep, and goats.  These animals spend 2 to 4 weeks on campus prior to the show as students learn to feed, clean, show, and groom their animals under supervision of a club member.


Objectives of Block and Bridle Club:
-To promote a higher scholastic standard and a more complete understanding of the field of Animal Sciences among student members, and
-To promote Animal Sciences through the development of a program of activities, especially all phases of student Animal Science work in colleges and Universities, and
-To bring about a closer relationship among all students pursing some phase of the Animal Sciences as a profession.
